SSANU  :COMPLAINS   ABOUT   SALARY   WITHELD  SSANU  

The  Association   of  Senior Staff  of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has  complained   that   the   federal   government   has  withheld salaries of its members  for   four   months.   Muhammad   Ibrahim,  the  federation's   national   president,   denounced  the  government's   malice,   saying  the  wage   garnishment   was   unfair   because  the  federation   had  complied with relevant laws when it went on strike for four months in 2022. 

 “SSANU complied with all  the   labor   codes  before  going  on strike when  the  government  broke   the   termination  of the  agreement.   But   it   was   in   vain,"  he said.  

While calling on  the  government to  pay the withheld  wages   immediately   and  without  delay, SSANU  said  the  government's   indifference  to the  workers'  plight  was  provocative and  unacceptable.  Ibrahim  emphasized  that despite the  challenging  environment in which the  club  operates, it remains  unflinching  in its quest to  help   build  the country. 

 He  added,   "Our  members  continue  to report for  missions  in the most  security-critical   areas  of the country.  During   the   2022   national   strike,   four   months'   worth   of   federal   tax   withheld.   It's  a pity that  they   stubbornly   insisted   on   paying   their   wages."  

He noted that  the   issue   of   renegotiating   the   2009   agreement   had   not   produced   any   results  since the association  called   off   its  strike last year,  adding:   "The   federal   government  does not  seem   to  like  university-industrial   harmonization."   Stated.   Implemented.   "
