TASUED reopens Thursday
Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun, Ogun State announced that it will reopen its facilities on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
School closed abruptly after student died after being beaten by residents of Imawje community, the university's host community
The university said in a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday by registrar Dapo Oke.
The statement reads: “The University Senate, at an emergency meeting on Tuesday 13 June 2024, reviewed the interim report on the ongoing investigation of Imaweje/Student Frakas and approved the reopening of the university on Thursday 15 June 2023. ."
“We also reviewed the university schedule and approved a one-month extension of teaching practice for Level 400 students. It will be held on Sunday and Wednesday, and the first semester exams for level 100-400 students will begin in the first week of July 2023.”
"Electronic testing will resume on Monday, June 19, 2023."
However, the school administration said its zero-tolerance policy on cultism was still fully operational and informed students of cultist-themed riots. "Students are hereby cautioned to refrain from any form of violence, as students who violate university rules and regulations are subject to judicial prosecution," the statement continued.
